Jonathan’s The Rub is a family affair. Our restaurant and catering company is located in the Memorial Villages and chef and owner, Jonathan Levine, works alongside his son, Sam, and daughter, Jessica. Not to mention, everyone else who works with and dines with us is like family, too.
We like to think we break the mold of Houston restaurants by doing our own thing using bold flavors and presenting a diverse menu that is more than just trends.
In 2008, Jonathan set upon combining spices and ingredients and, after 100 days, hence The Rub was born. The Rub is a blend of spicy, salty, sweet and savory spices all in balance, created for the passionate palette for maximum flavor.
While The Rub literally refers to this special ingredient, it shares a deeper meaning; taken from Shakespeare (“To be or not to be…”), The Rub represents the very physical and tangible aspects of Jonathan’s restaurant, as well as the emotional connection and passion for it.
